The exhibition sheds light on the fascinating contemporary art currently being produced in the Philippines. By offering an overview of current Filipino contemporary art, Arndt's curated selection for Collectionair aims to provide an emblematic representation of the emerging art being produced in the Philippines today. This snapshot of current artistic practice presents artworks that are inspired by the artist's own localities and everyday experiences that often incorporate commentary on social issues.

About the curator

Matthias Arndt is a contemporary art expert who ran his successful gallery in Berlin for over twenty years. He continues to operate ARNDT gallery in Singapore and ARNDT ART AGENCY in Berlin that focuses on Advisory services and artist management. He is a member of the Asia Pacific Acquisition Committee of the TATE in London and received the French Medal “Les Arts et Les Lettres”.

"I have been working with Southeast-Asian Contemporary over the past seven years. From my perspective, the Philippines currently provide the most exiting artistic creation and represent one of the most vital art markets in Southeast-Asia. The entry-price level is still very low compared to many Western artists. The level of quality is generally very high. But as the offer is particularly rich, a diverse focus on the key emerging and profiled artists and selection of only the best works is key."
