KEITH HARING

Born in: North America

Keith Haring (Pennsylvania, 1958 - 1990) was a renowned artist and social activist. The scurrying energy of New York city inspired his vivid paintings and wall art recognized widely in the 1980's. Haring's original artwork was an invaluable platform that allowed him to relate his frustrations toward looming social issues of the time: apartheid, drug addiction, and AIDS. The latter would tragically take his life at the age of 32. Haring's works are remembered fondly by art admirers internationally. He had his first solo exhibition in 1981, at the Westbeth Painters Space in Manhattan. His work was exhibited widely both within the United States and internationally.
