ELIANA ITURBE

Eliana Iturbe (La Habana, Cuba, 1983) is a multimedia artist known for her quixotic, fauna-centric paintings and sculptures. Her adoration of nature being restricted by living in cities her whole life, Iturbe lets her own imagination of the natural world loose in her work. Her "Fantastic Zoology" series, showing the melting-over of the artist’s chimerical beasts, is a testament to her dexterity in oil painting. Her efforts strike a median between the craft of traditional fine art and the postmodern self-reflectivity of conceptual art. Iturbe’s work has been featured in group exhibitions at the Hangar Gallery, Wynwood, Miami, Fl (2014); Art Takes Time Square, Times Square, NY (2012); Seven in the Garden, Gallery 1200, Hoboken, NJ (2011).
