ALEXANDRE D'HUY

Alexandre d'Huy was born in 1979. He pursued a degree in Visual Arts at the University of Paris, and later attended the school of Beaux-Arts in Paris for four years.

Following his father, who was a colonel, he grew up in military bases scattered across France. At the age of 19, he definitively left this particular environment and began his artistic studies. But the context in which he spent his early years continues to influence him today and modulates his artistic interests. His attraction towards physical matter led him to painting, and this love has not faded over the years. Neither has his obsessive interest for the theater of war, for maps, tanks, trucks, and objects. His finest models are depicted on Wikipedia, but he was heavily influenced by the events of September 11 and the consecutive conflicts, battles and wars on the one hand - spectacles on the other.

His work has been shown in the group show entitled "Our Struggle" at Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco in 2010, and at the EDF Foundation in 2012.
