GERALDINE JAVIER

Geraldine Javier (Philippines, 1970) is recognized on both a local and international level as a leading figure in Filipino art. Part of a new generation of young Filipino artists engaged in pursuing personal, idiosyncratic content, Javier's paintings, sculptures, and installations combine a calculated attention to her craft with crude urban grit. Javier also references mortality directly, with images of misery, death, dysfunction, and emotional violence recurring through her works. Her solo exhibitions include "Curiosities", Vargas Museum, U.P. Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines (2013); "Playing God in an Art Lab", Singapore Tyler Print Institute, Singapore (2012);  "Museum of Many Things", Valentine Willie Fine Art, Singapore (2011).
