JUDITH SCOTT

Judith Scott (Cincinnati, US, 1943 - 2005) is an artist internationally known for her fiber sculptures. Scott presents an incredibly moving story; she suffered from Down syndrome and profound deafness, having been institutionalized for thirty-five years. Despite living in darkness, she relentlessly worked to perfect her craft throughout the decades, and is now considered one of the most important artists of the twentieth century. Her sculptures - manic assemblies of objects reflected from other worlds - have been shown at such prestigious galleries and institutions as the Museum of Modern Art, Manhattan, New York; Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, CA; Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin.
