Born in: Europe

John Devlin spent decades producing - through a succession of drawings, maps, and studies - Nova Cantabrigiensis, New Cambridge, an imaginary utopian town located on a Nova Scotian island. Select pictures serve are remarkably acute recreations of the structures and nature that comprise his utopia, and of course the imagined subjects living therein. A troubled outsider artist, Devlin suffered a severe psychotic breakdown in his 20s, spending much of his life in hospitalization from that point forward. His works are featured in galleries across Europe, including Christian Berst Art Gallery.
