Adama Kouyaté (Bougoni [now Mali], 1928) is a lauded Sudanese artist best-known for producing black and white photographs. Learning his craft from leading mid-century photographers Pierre Garnier and Bakary Doumbia, Kouyaté opened his first photography studio in Kati (1949). He is at the head of a wave of Malian photographers capturing the aura of a post-independent Malian society. Kouyaté's photographs have been exhibited at the Pearlman Teaching Museum, Northfield, USA (2012) and the Photographic Bookstore, Paris (2011).
