“I created an overlap of all the national anthems in the world. The book of reference was published in 1982 and is by chance also my year of birth. In that year, West Germany and East Germany was divided and the Soviet Union still existed. National Anthems of course stand for each country´s unity, insistences or wishes. If everyone of them expressed their individual point of view simultaneously, it would cause confusion. Though all the anthems have different rhythms and lengths, the differences are not recognizable any more, if you put them in the same spot. This shows, how irreconcilable the different motivations and values in this world are.”
