In recent years, Tomoyuki Ueno has been making works that deal with the borders of nation states. Since he moved to Germany, he has been especially conscious of borders and nationalities, as it is possible to travel without passing through customs in Europe. This, for various reasons, is impossible in Japan. On the one hand, the meaning of a border is not as important as it was before the establishment of the European Union and on the other hand, there are new problems, like the departure of England from EU, the civil conflicts in the Ukraine, Iraq and Syria. This series deals with questions about these borders.
