Jala Wahid is a London-based artist known for her intimate, often sexual sculptures and photographs. In several of Wahid's pieces, conventional materials such as ceramic, steel, copper, bronze, plaster, and acrylic paint are combined with edible materials like gelatin, sugar, bergamot oils and Kurdish sweets. Her original artwork seeks to redefine politics of intimacy, simultaneously denying the body while over-sensationalizing it. Wahid's art has been shown at Room E-10 27, Paris (2015); Temporary Gallery, Cologne (2014); TANK gallery, London (2014).

For Collectionair, Wahid shows a series of photographic stills, strung together to form a strobe-effect narrative of their past. The work, initially begins as a sculpture, a cast of the artists stomach, subjected to materials that relate to the body, both functionally, lip gloss, foundation and formally as food. Whether through the organic shadows pointing to form out of the shot, the materials used or through the artist's use of a single body part fragmented from her own, the work speaks of a denial of the body as whole
