Alexandre d'Huy was raised in numerous military bases scattered across France. He left that environment behind to pursue his art at the age of 19. His nomadic upbringing led to a fascination with physical matter that he continues to parse through in his painting. Specifically, much of d'Huy's pictures are robust specimens of mighty mechanized vehicles. These are the paintings of what a young d'Huy imagined his father's working life to look like. His work has been shown at the EDF Foundation (2012) and in "Our Struggle" at Contemporary Jewish Museum, San Francisco (2010).
