GABRIELA ALBERGARIA

Born in: Europe

Gabriela Albergaria (Vale de Cambra, Portugal, 1965) explores the nature of gardens through her photographs, drawings, and sculptures. Seeing gardens as systems representative of manmade beliefs employed to represent the natural world, the artist dedicates her work to studying these environments, exposing her findings through her art. Albergaria uses her samples of plant species and gardens as revelations of cultural change through which the amorphous natural world sets itself. Her works have been shown at Socrates Sculpture Park, New York (2015); Casa da Parra, Santiago de Compostela, Spain (2013); Centre Culturel Calouste Gulbenkian, Paris (2012).
