MARIANA PALMA

Born in: South America

Paintings by Mariana Palma (São Paulo, 1979) cover every inch of the canvas. Drawing inspiration from Baroque architecture, Flemish painting, and traditional botany and textile concepts, Palma creates fractal floral motifs that buzz with extra dimension, overloaded with visual multicultural references. Subtextually, Palma often alludes to the micro- and macrocosmic; individual parts that come together to form a whole. Her original artwork has been shown in various Brazilian institutions including Pivo, Instituto Tomie Ohtake, SESC Pinheiros, Museu de Arte Contemporânea (MAC), São Paulo.
