OMAR VICTOR DIOP

Born in: West Africa

Omar Victor Diop (Dakar, 1980) is a Senegalese photographer whose first conceptual project, Fashion 2112, le Futur du Beau, earned him a feature at the Pan African Exhibition of the African Biennale of Photography of 2011 in Bamako. His photography series Le Studio des Vanités documents the generation of young artists based in Dakar, of which he is a central part. There is an underlying commentary throughout his original artwork critiquing the lazy narratives told of his continent.
