The woodcut technique has here enabled the artist to create a linear and flat work that draws on a modernist style. The simple but bold colours help in the naïve-like formulation of the image, and the words, which also remind us of modernist typography, are to be read back to front.

Tal R (Israel, 1967) is a Copenhagen-based artist represented by such galleries as the Victoria Miro in London, Cheim & Read in New York City, Tim Van Laere in Antwerp, and Contemporary Fine Arts in Berlin. Tal R describes his style as "kolbojnik", translated from Hebrew to "leftovers". Indeed, influences from the world's greatest painters - specifically Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso - flow through his portfolio. His works have been shown at numerous international galleries.
