AMBROISE NGAYIMOKO

Born in: West Africa

Ambroise Ngayimok (Angola, 1949) spent his early life as a mechanic before serving as an assistant to his uncle Marques Ndodão, owner of two photography studios. Ngayimok was introduced to his craft with a Yashica 6x6 camera that his uncle gave him. Eventually, he would shock admirers worldwide for his innovative technique of using the same negative twice to produce two portraits on the same sheet. His pictures have been featured at numerous galleries and events, such as: Paris Photo, Grand Palais, Paris, France (2016); Congo Kitoko, Fondation Cartier, Paris, France; 0th Bienal de São Paulo, Pavilion Ciccillo Matarazzo, Brazil (2014).
