Kura Shomali (Kananga, Democratic Republic of Congo, 1979) is a Kinshasa-based artist who shifted away from his initial medical studies to attend the Academy of Fine Arts. During his time there, he joined a group of artists known as the EZA Possibles collective, aimed on showcasing the emerging talent in Kinshasa. Using paper with charcoal, gouache, ink, marker, and pen, Shomali makes beautiful collages and pictures reflecting his touching perceptions on Kinshasa's dualistic aspects - specifically, its natural beauty being constantly overrun by corruption and social conflict. His work has been shown at the Witteveen Visual Art Centre, Amsterdam (2016); Fondation Cartier, Paris, France (2015).
