Born in: Middle East

Matin Abedi (Isfahan, Iran, 1989) creates a unique form of contemporary portraiture using photographs, linen, beading, and thread. There's an ethereal element to her original artwork; a ghostly fusing of the natural with the social and deeply personal, all captured with the modern viewer's sensibilities in mind. Abedi is a member of the Enjavi-Barbe Art Projects, a group focused on exposing breakthrough Iranian contemporary artists to the international community. Her work has been exhibited in such galleries as Pasinger Fabrik, Munich (2013) and Azad Art Gallery, Tehran (2013).
