HUSSEIN MADI

Hussein Madi (Lebanon, 1938) is a Lebanese artist whose paintings, sculptures, and prints point to influences from Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse as well as Islamic abstract art. Madi learned his crafts at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts in Beirut and the Academia di Belle Arti in Rome, and has been exhibiting his works in Europe since 1965. Madi's drawings, brimming with the simplified forms of artistic conventions, present spellbinding scripts for viewers to parse through. His work has been shown at the Artspace Gallery, Dubai (2010); Venice Biennale (2003);  Sharjah Museum (1997).
