Carlos Martiel (Havana, 1989) is a New York-based independent artist interested in big metanarratives, such as God, the state, and the motherland. A signature minimalist approach runs through Martiel's original artwork as he dilutes nude art, dogmatic scenes, and abstract concepts into their harshest, best-accepted forms. His projects consistently feature original narratives orbiting storied themes. His works have been included in the 57th Venice Biennale, Venice, Italy; Casablanca Biennale, Casablanca, Morocco; Biennial “La Otra”, Bogotá, Colombia.
