Marilena Pelosi (Rio de Janeiro, 1957) is an outsider artist whose bizarre, enigmatic drawings have been a coping mechanism. Pelosi's pictures were therapeutic to her when she was recovering from a serious illness at 16, and later in life as she sorted through the remains of two failed marriages. She favored brio or felt pen on tracing paper, and often revisited themes of female depression by depicting women in surreal pain. Her works have been shown at such galleries as Christian Berst Art Brut, Centre d'Etude de l'Expression et Centre hospitalier Sainte-Anne, Salon du Dessin Erotique.
