Henry Speller (Mississippi, United States, 1900 - 1996) was an artist and blues musician. His sexualized, often menacing pictures contain clear incorporations of his musical craft, leading some to file Speller's art under a "blues aesthetic". Fetishized, stylized nude art at its surface, the artist's life's work is strung together by an explicit commentary on the social and economic exclusions he observed throughout his life on the basis of his race. Speller's works have been shown at such galleries as the Olivia Creative Factory, Sao Joao da Madeira, Porto; Jean Brolly gallery (2016); Christian Berst Gallery (2008).
