Miroslav Tichy (Czech Republic, 1926 - 2011) was a photographer known for the thousands of candid pictures he took throughout the 1960s, 70s, and 80s. These photographs were taken using entirely homemade cameras produced with easily accessible materials such as cardboard tubes and tin cans. Tichy tended to favor the female as his subject, and would capture women on film without their prior knowledge. His photography earned widespread recognition after they were discovered by the international art community at the end of the 1990's.
The Centre Pompidou in Paris dedicated a retrospective to Tichy in 2008.
