Carlo Zinelli (1916 - 1974) is a canonical figure of outsider art, his paintings of trauma and isolation held as select samples of the genre. Diagnosed with schizophrenia at a young age, Zinelli relayed his mental instabilities into his pictures with grace, conveying anxieties related to uncertainty and personal interaction with musical rhythm. Like contemporaries of his genre, much of Zinelli's works feature manic scribbling, an expression of the artist's yearning for unbridled communication. His works have been shown in numerous international galleries and institutions, including Museo Arte Ravenna, Ravenna (2013); Astra Theater, St. Peter's Church in Monastery, Verona (2013); Galerie Christian Berst, Paris (2011).
