Samaneh Motalebi (Tehran, 1986) is an Iran-based artist who earned her B.A. in graphic design from Shariati  University, Tehran. Motalebi puts a spin on conventional portraiture by using thick-woven thread, a technique she herself introduced. The faces of Motalebi's subjects are noticeably blank, inviting viewers to substitute their own. Doing so might result in facial-floral overgrowth, or a large insect covering the face. Motalebi's original artwork has been featured in numerous museums, galleries, and auctions.

Exhibitions

Motalebi’s work has been exhibited in Good News from Iran, Pasinger Fabrik, Munich, Germany in 2014 and in Symphony of death, Gallery Mohsen, Tehran, also in 2014.
