Frédéric Bruly Bouabré (Zéprégühé, Ivory Coast, 1923 - 2014) is an artist, writer, and philosopher who lived and worked in the Ivory Coast. He has stated that much of his work was directly influenced by a vision he had in 1948, in which he saw a flash of impossible beauty and synchronicity. From that point forward, Bouabré sought to implement the epiphanies of his vision into his work, which ranges from whimsical, subtext-heavy pictures to the creation of his own alphabet. Bouabré's art has been featured at a number of international auctions and galleries, including Art Paris Art Fair, Grand Palais, Paris, France (2013); Art Brussels, 31st Contemporary Art Fair, Brussels, Belgium (2012); Tate Modern, London, UK (2010).
